ONI is seeking a senior psychologist with a strong clinical foundation, who is motivated, passionate about supporting others, and values a diverse and collaborative approach in their daily work.
The Role
Psychologists play a pivotal role applying their expertise in psychological and behavioural sciences across a wide spectrum of responsibilities throughout their careers at the Office of National Intelligence (ONI).
As a Psychologist within ONI, you will deliver a comprehensive array of psychological services utilising your analytical expertise, assessment capabilities, and deep understanding of psychological risk factors.
As an EL1 Senior Psychologist, you may:
- Supervise and manage both APS and contracted psychologists and non-psychologists, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and outcomes.
- Undertake a variety of complex direct and indirect psychological assessments, including evaluating suitability for employment in high-security environments.
- Deliver one-to-one counselling using evidence-informed treatment interventions suited to the presenting issues.
- Develop and deliver workshops on a range of organisational psychosocial initiatives.
- Advise business areas on staff wellbeing and develop plans to help employees thrive in the workplace.
The Team
ONI’s Psychological Services team is a dynamic and growing team. We provide ONI with a range of services including, but not limited to initial and ongoing assessment of employee suitability to work in a high-security environment, in house psychological intervention/counselling for staff and management, provision of evidence-informed psycho-education programs in addition to coaching and team building initiatives.

Our ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience supervising and developing early career psychologists.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting and overseeing clinical assessment using case formulation methodology and ability to provide strategic advice and clinical opinion in support of organisational functions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities with fluctuating workloads.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills.
- A strong team-oriented approach.
Key Attributes
Our ideal candidate would have:
- Experience leading and supervising psychologists.
- Proven capability in delivering a range of clinical interventions.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting psychological assessments across various contexts.
- Experience in the provision of guidance and advice to senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across a range of forums.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and manage your workload.
Skills and qualifications:
- Post-graduate studies, or completing studies in Clinical, Organisational or Forensic Psychology;
- At least four years post-registration experience; and
- Unconditional registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
