About the role
We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative UX Designer Specialist to join our team at Curtin University. This full-time, continuing position (1.0 FTE) is tailored for a seasoned professional who will take the lead in creating engaging and satisfying experiences for our users. In this role, you will be expected to leverage your extensive knowledge and expertise to drive design strategy and elevate the overall user experience across our digital platforms.
Using insights from user research and analysis, you will guide the entire design process, from initial concepts to final releases. Your expertise will include storytelling, persona design, journey mapping, prototyping, and wireframe creation, ensuring that every part of our products meets high standards of quality and user satisfaction.
In addition to hands-on design work, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams on various projects aimed at improving learning and teaching outcomes. These projects might range from complex solutions like 3D viewers to simpler web forms and reporting tools. Your focus areas will include content strategy, visual design, information architecture, and user research.
By aligning frontend product development with validated designs, you will play a crucial role in shaping our products and delivering exceptional user experiences.
Who we are looking for - Selection Criteria
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in UX design, supported by a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency in user-centred design principles and problem-solving abilities to meet business goals.
- Knowledge of current design practices and trends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to engage professionally with clients.
- Capability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Experience working in an Agile environment and using Agile methodologies to achieve incremental results.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in a university or higher education environment and an awareness of the uses of ICT within universities.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.

- Ability to work outside of normal office hours when required.
