Product Design & Manufacturing Specialist
Location: Somersby, NSW
Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Are you a hands-on designer who loves seeing your ideas come to life? We're looking for a Product Design & Manufacturing Specialist to join our Somersby workshop and play a key role in our next chapter of growth at Barji Marine.
About Us:
At Barji Marine, we pride ourselves on developing and manufacturing unique, high-quality products that solve everyday problems for boat owners. With a proven track record of innovation, we create practical solutions that enhance the boating experience.
We are a forward-thinking company, always ready to invest in our people and the latest technology to push the boundaries of what's possible. If you want to be part of a company that values ideas, embraces innovation, and is passionate about improving boating, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the Role:
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on both design and hands-on manufacturing. You'll take concepts from idea through to production, working independently across a variety of projects — and you'll have the opportunity to help lead a growing team and influence the future direction of Barji Marine.
Key Responsibilities:
3D modelling of innovative products using software such as Solidworks, Fusion360, or similar.
Designing and preparing files for laser engraving (Lightburn).
Programming, operating, and maintaining 3D printers (Bambu Lab models).
Operating and maintaining CO₂ laser engraving machines.
Supporting manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and laser cutting.
Manufacturing and assembling parts with precision and a strong attention to detail.
Communicating progress and ideas clearly with the team.
Playing an active role in shaping new product development and production methods.
What We're Looking For:
Solid experience in 3D modelling and design software.
A manufacturing background with practical experience across 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, and sheet metal principles.
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining 3D printers and laser engraving machines.
A proactive, detail-driven approach to manufacturing and quality control.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
A passion for creating solutions and improving how things are made.
A future leader — someone excited to take on more responsibility as we grow.
Why Join Barji Marine?
Be part of a company with a proven track record of innovation and a vision for the future.
Full-time, stable employment based in our Somersby workshop.
Hands-on, varied work that brings real ideas to life.
Opportunity for leadership growth and career advancement.
Access to new technologies and ongoing investment in your skills and development.
A positive, collaborative team culture where your ideas and efforts are valued.
Ready to Join Us?
If you're passionate about design, manufacturing, and innovation — and you want to help shape the future of boating — we’d love to hear from you.
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter telling us a bit about yourself and why you're excited about this opportunity at Barji Marine.
