We’re looking for a hands-on, high energy Operations Manager with events experience who knows things get wild when events season hits.

Everything moves fast in the events industry. The person we need does their best work under pressure. They are the cool head at the centre of it all, making smart decisions and solving problems like it’s second nature.

It’s not for everyone. But if the role is sounding good so far, you no doubt know and love the events industry and all the chaos it entails.

The role:

You'll run our Para Hills-based equipment hire operations: portable toilets, showers, and hydration systems. Some days you’ll be at your desk, others you’ll be getting your hands dirty in the yard or doing a midnight bump-out. Required: professionalism and a good sense of humour.

What you'll do:

LEAD THE TEAM - Coordinate a small team of drivers, yard crew and cleaners. Train them. Test their work. Support them. Make them better.

MANAGE CUSTOMERS - Build relationships, create quotes, negotiate tenders. Solve customer problems. Proactive communication is key.

STEER OPERATIONS - Stay up to date on upcoming projects and events. Make decisions and moves that directly support the business's priorities. Create better systems.

RUN THE YARD - Balance hands-on work with management and delegation. Maintain a safe and efficient yard. Load trucks, clean toilets, repair showers. Design truck routes and loading plans. Create and oversee execution of daily and weekly schedules. Turn chaos into order.

DELIVER EVENTS - From event brief to logistics planning to post event analysis, orchestrate all events. Be on-site for major events & festivals, ensuring our equipment and services run flawlessly. Smaller jobs are planned in advance so you and your team can execute on autopilot.

No one at an event giving toilets a second thought = ✅ a job well done.

The reality:

Events season (Oct-Apr) means early mornings, late nights, and weekend work. You'll be on call. You'll get dirty. Some days your office is wherever the job needs you.
The quieter-season means more time to level up operations. You'll tackle maintenance projects, staff training tune-ups, and spend time strengthening customer relationships.

You're our person if you:

Have a proven track record in event operations, particularly in festivals and major events

Are detailed and organised but can adapt when plans go sideways

Can effectively communicate with and manage blue-collar teams

Have practical mechanical skills and hands-on ability

Have solid computer skills and are adept at logistics, numbers, and reporting

Have valid MR truck and forklift licenses (not required on day one, but you'll need them when it's all hands on deck)

Viking Events is growing, With direct access to our owner and Director, as well as ongoing training and support from our leadership team, you'll help shape future operations. We’re big on systems and processes but we don’t do red tape - too inefficient. You’ll run your own show.
