The Opportunity

These roles offer experienced payroll professionals the chance to contribute to a meaningful mission while working within a supportive and well-established team.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on complex payroll matters, further develop your APS experience, and play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely outcomes.

Multiple positions are available at both APS5 and APS6 levels, with responsibilities aligned to your level of experience and capability.

Candidates with Aurion knowledge and a Baseline security clearance (or the ability to obtain one) will be highly regarded, offering a smooth transition into the department and long-term prospects within the broader public service.

The Role

Support or lead payroll functions depending on your level, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Process and review complex payroll transactions in Aurion
• Apply legislation, enterprise agreements, and policy frameworks
• Respond to and resolve payroll issues, including escalations
• Maintain system integrity and contribute to payroll reporting
• Provide oversight or mentorship to junior officers (APS6 level)

The Ideal Person

You’re an experienced and reliable payroll professional who thrives in a compliance-focused environment.

You bring proven experience using Aurion, ideally within a government setting, and are comfortable navigating a legislative framework.

APS5-level candidates will be confident in end-to-end payroll processing and keen to step up. APS6-level candidates will demonstrate leadership capabilities and a forward-thinking mindset to enhance processes and mentor others.

A Baseline clearance is a strong advantage, allowing you to hit the ground running and support business continuity.

Salary / Rate

• $86k – $109k + Super
• 6 month non ongoing
• Baseline clearance or the ability to obtain
