Office Manager

Polite Playground - Events Management Agency

Location: Sydney, NSW

Work Type: Full Time

Industry: Events Services / Creative Agency

Classification: Administration & Office Support > Office Management

About Us

We are a Sydney based creative events and activations agency specialising in immersive experiences, pop-up installations, and brand activations across Australia. We collaborate with leading brands, creatives, and venues to deliver memorable events that excite and engage. We’re currently seeking a proactive and experienced Office Manager to join our fast-paced, high-performing team.

About the Role

This is a dynamic and multifaceted role, ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and brings strong organisational, administrative, and leadership skills to the table.

In this role as Office Manager, you will oversee the core functions of our office and contribute directly to the strategic and operational health of the business. You will be responsible for administrative systems, office personnel, compliance, resource planning and more and will play a key part in shaping how we work day-to-day.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Reviewing and improving office systems and services — helping us identify what’s working, what needs to change, and setting clear service standards to support a high-performing team.

Allocating people, equipment, and workspaces for our events — making sure we’ve got the right staff, tools and resources in place to deliver every activation smoothly.

Delegating tasks and supervising staff, including our office team and casual event crew — supporting their work, giving guidance, and keeping an eye on performance.

Managing our records and financial accounts — including keeping accurate documentation, tracking project budgets, sending and chasing invoices, and working with our bookkeeper.

Liaising with internal teams, clients, and suppliers — acting as a go-to point for solving problems and ensuring everyone is aligned.

Keeping our office and equipment in order — including restocking supplies, maintaining tech and tools, and managing office repairs or upgrades.

Making sure we follow workplace safety rules — especially for on-site activations, working environments, and staff inductions.

Ensuring we’re compliant with relevant laws, policies, and procedures — such as employee entitlements, contractor agreements, insurance, and privacy standards.

Looking after personnel matters — from onboarding and training new staff, to preparing timesheets, managing payroll, and supporting team development.

About you

You will be highly organised, a great communicator, and comfortable working with creatives and logistics people alike. You will have experience managing teams and office operations, ideally in events, hospitality, or the creative industries, and you’ll be proactive, pragmatic and calm under pressure.

You should have:

· At least 1 years’ experience in office management or a similar role

· A degree in either: Management or Events Management, Communications or Business or a similar degree.

· Strong time management skills and a knack for juggling priorities

· A confident, people-first leadership style with excellent interpersonal skills

· Experience working with compliance frameworks, OH&S, or internal policy

· Tech-savvy and comfortable using scheduling software, finance tools (e.g. Xero)

Why work with us?

· Creative, friendly and high-performing team environment

· Hands-on role with impact - no two days are the same

· Exposure to exciting projects with leading Australian brands

· Flexible work culture with plenty of autonomy

· Growth potential as we expand operations nationally
