Position Overview
Melbourne Orthopaedic Group seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner to manage low‑acuity orthopaedic patients in our outpatient setting. Reporting directly to the supervising surgeon, you will provide pre‑operative and post‑operative assessment, triage referrals, and oversee non‑surgical care of spinal problems under close clinical supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Triage incoming referrals: determine urgency, acuity and severity, and ensure all appropriate investigations are completed prior to surgeon consultation.
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and management of spine‑related conditions (low‑acuity).
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe medications according to scope of practice and protocols.
- Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative assessments in the outpatient clinic.
- Manage non‑surgical or conservatively managed patients under the surgeon supervision.
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary team members including surgeons, physiotherapists, and allied health.
- Deliver patient education and support for ongoing self‑management and rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date medical records; contribute to quality improvement and clinical governance activities.
- Participate in regular case discussions and audit cycles; escalate complex cases to the supervising surgeon.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner endorsement with AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience in orthopaedics, musculoskeletal or related field.
- Exceptional clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $120,000 per annum, paid fortnightly + Superannuation
- Commission Structure: Attractive bonus structure based on productivity
- Annual Leave: Four weeks paid leave per year (pro‑rata during probation).
- Other Leave & Entitlements: Personal/carer’s leave, long service leave and public holidays as per the National Employment Standards.
Working Hours & Location
- Full‑time, 38 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
- On‑site at Melbourne Orthopaedic Group, Windsor VIC.
