About the role
We have an opportunity for an experienced and customer focused IBM z/OS Systems Programmer to be part of our mainframe support team responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration and management of the NSWPF IBM z16 mainframe systems. This is a technical support tole providing 24/7 support to critical mainframe systems infrastructure. The Systems Programmer is responsible for the management and technical support of the organisations mainframe systems to support service delivery.
The role is accountable for:
- Maintaining the organisation's mainframe and systems including software, and ensuring high availability and allowing secure, efficient and effective access to mainframe systems;
- Managing the systems programming functions, which may include planning, designing, installation, configuration, maintenance support, performance tuning and monitoring of all mainframe software;
- Performing systems monitoring and analysis, incident management, change management, problem management, troubleshooting and escalation of unresolved issues to maintain system performance and availability to meet user demand;
- Reducing operational risks and improving availability of the systems through planning and implementing regular system upgrades to enhance service continuity and user experience and compliance with policies and procedures;
- Developing, maintaining and performing operational procedures and disaster recovery tests and ensuring operational tasks are performed reliably and consistently to reduce the risk of unplanned outages; and
- Collecting and analysing operational data to identify emerging trends and make recommendations.

To be successful in this role, you will have highly developed skills and experience in:
- z/OS operating systems
- JES2 - Job Entry Subsystem
- GDPS - Disaster recovery and resiliency solutions for IBM Z
- SMP/e - Tool for managing and tracking of the installation of software products on z/OS systems
- TSO/ISPF - System management interface and a development interface for traditional z/OS programming
- SDSF - System Display and Search Facility
- NETVIEW - Management of networks and systems through graphical display and automation
- SA - NetView based System Automation application
- HCD - Hardware Configuration Definition
- RACF - Resource Access Control Facility
- TWS - IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler
- DFSMS - Software suite
- DFRMM - Managing removable media resources
- USS - z/OS UNIX System Services
- OMEGAMON - Monitor and manage mainframe applications and environments.
- SMF - The z/OS System Management Facility
Experience in CICS, MQ and Integration is highly desirable.
