The Studio

e8urban is a specialist master planning and urban design practice based in Surry Hills Sydney. We place a strong emphasis on design, innovation and building strong relationships with our client and fellow professionals. Operating within the design spectrum that spans urban planning to public domain we have developed designs for sites, streets, settlements and suburbs across NSW, Australia and the globe.

The Role

We currently looking for a new team member and are interested in hearing from Architects/Master Planners/Urban Designers who are looking to fast track their career development.

You will primarily be responsible for assisting on a range of small and large-scale projects from inception to delivery. You'll be supported by the practice director and other staff. The projects range from design competitions to detailed master plans and concept public domain documentation for both public and private sector clients.
You will assist in project conception and visioning, design development, production of documentation, coordination with clients and consultants, and the communication of our ideas as high quality graphics and reports.

About You

You will have a clear understanding of both architecture, master planning and urban design, and have a strong interest in landscape and public spaces. You will be skilled in 2D and 3D CAD with excellent presentation and graphics. You will have experience on large scale master plans and be able to demonstrate how you have contributed to high quality design outcomes, in particular at the intersection of built form and public domain.

Professional requirements:

An interest or recent experience in master planning, urban design and landscape architecture

Well-developed graphics and presentation skills

A diverse portfolio with experience on large scale master planning commissions

Compiling and analysing site data to formulate land use and development recommendations

Liaising with clients and specialist consultants to develop master plans and design strategies for residential, mixed use and commercial developments

Provide technical input, expertise and, information regarding designs, technical requirements and specifications

Applied knowledge of the NSW planning framework

Preparing project documentation, including sketches and scale drawings, and integrating specialist civil, landscape, inputs in final designs

Consulting with Professionals and clients about external area designs, costs and construction

Preparing reports, site plans, working drawings, specifications and cost estimates for land development projects

Inspecting construction work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications and quality standards

Software skills:

We’d like to hear from people with:

Rhino and Grasshopper

Luminon rendering

Working knowledge of 2D VectorWorks and the ability to organise drawings – is essential

Sound working knowledge of Illustrator and the Adobe Suite

ArchGIS skills are desirable but not essential

Salary range $73,500 - $77,500

Eligibility to work in Australia is a requirement
