About the role
As the Senior Project officer, you will support the City Design team in developing and implementing innovative strategies and built form guidance, ensuring alignment with Parramatta 2050 vision and Council's Corporate Plan. Your contributions will be instrumental in achieving the broader goals of the City Design and Planning Unit, driving impactful outcomes for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert urban design and architectural advice on city-building initiatives, including Planning Proposals, Development Applications, Precinct Plans, and public domain projects.
  • Lead research and analysis on urban design trends, integrating insights from transport planning, economic development, and environmental and social factors to shape strategic plans.
  • Manage and guide multi-disciplinary teams of Council staff, consultants, and external stakeholders to deliver complex and sensitive urban design projects within set timeframes and budgets.
  • Drive collaboration across business units and directorates to foster continuous improvement in design outcomes and promote excellence in urban planning.
  • Oversee project management processes, ensuring efficient planning, monitoring, and reporting to achieve strategic objectives while managing risks, change, and quality outcomes.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in urban design, architecture and/or landscape architecture.
  • 5+ years' experience in urban design, with a proven track record of successfully achieving objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading large scale and mixed urban renewal projects.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, with the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Exceptional ability to negotiate, influence, and manage change within complex stakeholder environments, alongside strong commercial acumen.
  • Strategic problem solver who thrives in a collaborative environment, embracing perspectives and guidance to achieve the best outcomes.

  • Demonstrated strategic design experience in master planning projects preferably in a government setting.
