Merlino & Co. is looking for an Event Sales Executive to join our team!

We are an award-winning hospitality company built around the ethos of amazing food + drinks, and memorable experiences. We are in our 12th year of business, and the event department of our company is busier than ever.

Our venues include The Lobo, Big Poppas, and Kittyhawk New York – with Kittyhawk hosting the majority of our Event Department.

We pride ourselves on building positive work cultures with staff care and personal development at the top of our agenda.

Now, we’re looking for a dynamic Event Sales Executive to join our team and drive our event bookings to new heights.

This role is an integral part of our events team, acting as the liaison between the client and the venue. You will be responsible for generating leads, building relationships, converting inquiries into confirmed bookings, and coordinating events from start to finish.

You'll be the face of the company, so you'll need to know how to make a good first impression and be committed to delivering exceptional client experiences. We are looking for someone who is professional, brings positive energy to the team, is able to work autonomously, and can keep themselves organised to meet deadlines.

This is a full-time role over 5 working days. The work is primarily Mon-Fri, but some weekend work may be required for larger events such as weddings.

Must have the right to work in Australia, ideally without sponsorship. Holiday temporary work visas are also not suitable, as we're looking for someone long-term.

Responsibilities

Proactively source and convert new event sales leads (corporate, social, and private)

Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, and local partners

Respond to inquiries and prepare detailed proposals and quotes

Conduct site visits and walkthroughs with prospective clients

Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Bar, Kitchen) to ensure seamless event execution

Meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and yearly sales targets and KPIs

Maintain accurate records in the CRM system (iVvy and Xero) and provide regular reporting to management

Prepare documentation for each event, including event contracts, run sheets, reserved signs and event menus

Coordinate with clients to select F&B details, organise event details, liaise with suppliers, and finalise financials

Regularly refresh content on Kittyhawk's event listing profiles and keep function collateral up to date

May require some ad hoc FOH help, including waitressing, food running or hosting

Skills

Proven experience in event sales and/or business development within hospitality, venues, or events

Strong sales instincts with a client-first mindset

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

Highly organised and process-driven

Ability to manage a high workload in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work autonomously and with an extremely high level of attention to detail

Experience with the following platforms/software is desired but not essential: iVvy, Xero, InDesign, Canva, Sevenrooms, Squarespace and Gmail

Experience with sites like VenueNow, Hidden Secrets, etc. is desired but not essential
