About the Role: Are you passionate about bringing people together and creating memorable events? Mackay Regional Council is looking for two vibrant Festivals and Events Officers to help plan, manage, and deliver amazing festivals and events, including the iconic Mackay Festival of Arts. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and love the buzz of event planning, this is the perfect role for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Extraordinaire: Contribute to the coordination, development, and implementation of festivals and events.
  • Supplier Superstar: Liaise with suppliers and consultants to ensure event success.
  • Evaluation Expert: Support event evaluation, reporting, and administration.
  • Grant Guru: Research and provide input for grant and funding opportunities.
  • Community Connector: Engage with staff and the community to foster participation and build partnerships.
  • Marketing Maven: Help develop and implement effective marketing strategies.
  • Safety Champion: Act as Chief Warden and/or event manager as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Working with Children Blue Card - It is an essential requirement for this position to hold a Working with Children Blue Card. Under Queensland legislation, you must hold the Blue Card prior to commencing employment - No Card, No Start policy. If you currently do not hold a Blue Card, we recommend you commence the application process when you apply for the position.   • QLD "C" Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
  • Qualifications in Event Management, Marketing, or a relevant field, OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in festival and/or event coordination.
  • Experience in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies.
  • Experience in events and sponsorship coordination.
  • Must-Haves:

  • Experience in developing and implementing sponsorship strategies.
  • Experience in contract management.
  • Experience in maintaining a website.
  • Desirable:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Organizational Whiz: Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in using corporate systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Communication Pro: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service Star: Ability to relate to the public in a calm, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Budget Boss: Ability to work within strict budget constraints.
  • Physical Dynamo: Ability to carry out physical tasks, including standing or walking around sites and lifting objects.

Remuneration:

  • Base Hourly - (Level 2): $25.91
  • Base Hourly - (Level 3): $28.85
  • 11.5 % superannuation
  • Pro-rata leave (choice of 4 or 5 weeks)
