We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Officer to join our Wellbeing, Safety and Injury Management team in Belmont. In this permanent full-time role, you’ll support the delivery and continuous improvement of health and safety initiatives that help maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all.
What you’ll do:
- Support the Safety Department in the delivery of WHS strategies and the maintenance of the St John WA Safety Management System
- Assist in the development of risk assessments and the development of effective controls
- Maintain WHS registers and support emergency preparedness planning
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and hazards and maintain accurate safety records
- Assisting in the development of WHS policies, procedures, and safety initiatives
- Maintain and administer WHS and return to work software, including system maintenance, training, and user support
- Creating online forms, maintain the WHS intranet webpage, and generate regular WHS and RTW reports
- Collaborate with staff, managers, and contractors to address WHS issues and promote a strong safety culture
- Assist in the development of safety training and communication to improve WHS awareness across the business
- Participate in internal safety committees, audits, and inspections
- Driving continuous improvement in WHS practices.
What you’ll need:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or currently working towards completion
- Experience delivering WHS services in the health sector or similar
- Experience with WHS software (e.g., MyOSH) and the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and its practical application
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- ‘C’ class drivers’ licence
