Our Sport & Community Venues Branch are seeking a Parks Worker to join their team to contribute towards the delivery of high standard precinct and horticultural maintenance services for the Sunshine Coast Stadium, Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex and other venues within the Major Sports Facilities portfolio.

The role is responsible for carrying out horticulture and landscape tasks such as:

- Planting, weeding, mulching, pruning

- Brush cutting and edging

- Hedging

- Mowing

- Irrigation repairs and maintenance

- Turf Management, laying and fertilisation

- Plant propagation

- Remove and dispose of debris and litter from grounds and gardens

- General labouring

- Spray and control weeds and pests

- Line Marking

Under the direction of the Sports Turf Curator lead and Senior Site Parks Officers, carry out maintenance of fields and buildings that are within the Major Sport Facilities venues portfolio, so the precincts are maintained and presented to a high standard and in a safe condition.

Assist with the preparation of playing fields for fixtures and training, including line marking, set out fields to meet the individual’s requirements of the respective football codes and change-over of line marking and goal posts.

Perform day to day cleaning and programmed maintenance as required.

About you

As someone passionate about Horticulture and the outdoors, who brings a high level of energy you will possess:

Certificate III in Horticulture or relevant trade experience.

Relevant plant licences as required.

Experience in a hands-on role delivering and maintaining efficient and effective day to day operations of mowing, gardening and horticultural tasks, and in amenity and turf maintenance.

Knowledge of the use of chemicals and pesticides, horticultural machinery and equipment.

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to the successful completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
