Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and community participation. This role requires patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to upholding the dignity and rights of individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide general household assistance, emotional support, and companionship to clients.
Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Support mobility needs, including transfers and the safe use of assistive equipment.
Assist with meal preparation, serving, and feeding if required.
Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment.
Facilitate community participation by accompanying clients to medical appointments, social activities, and recreational outings.
Administer medication as per individual care plans and in accordance with relevant guidelines.
Observe, document, and report client progress and any changes in condition to relevant healthcare professionals.
Implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare providers, families, and support networks.
Promote independence by assisting clients in developing and maintaining life skills.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards and NDIS guidelines.
Provide emotional and psychosocial support to clients and their families, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Skills and Experience Required:
Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of a year experience in a disability support, aged care, or community support role.
Strong understanding of NDIS and person-centered care principles.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Valid Australian Driver’s License (preferred).
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
