Brown’s Mart is a performing arts organisation and venue based on Gulumerridjin – Larrakia Country, in Garramilla-Darwin. As the Home of Territory Performing Arts, we play a pivotal role as the leading developer, producer, and presenter of new performance work from artists living and working in the Northern Territory.

Your new role

The Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring the efficient handling of accounting matters for Brown’s Mart, including managing payroll, processing payments, generating invoices, ensuring all compliance reporting is completed, and preparing financial reports for the CEO, Board and funding bodies. They contribute to an inclusive, flexible, supportive environment for our artists, audiences and community.

This part time position is responsible for but not limited to:

End to end accounts payable

End to end accounts receivable

Looking after all payroll functions. Fortnightly payment runs for circa 20 staff members, all salaried.

Reconciliations

Reimbursements and journaling.

Helping produce reports

Assist with the preparing and completion of BAS lodgements and IAS

Process and reconcile bar, box office and other direct receipts

Other adhoc duties included.

Essential Criteria

Previous bookkeeping experience

Payroll experience

MYOB, AccountRight software experience

Experience in job coding in MYOB and generating reports

Desirable Criteria

Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders

Problem-solving and team-work skills

Experience in working in an arts organisation

Experience in not-for-profit governance

Flexibility with new technologies and advancing software systems

What you'll get in return

You will be joining a creative team that contributes significantly to the community of Darwin and surrounds. The salary is $85,000 pro rata, 0.4 FTE with the possibility to increase. There is free on-site parking and remote work is negotiable.
