The Company
Our client is a rapidly expanding technology services company known for its innovative solutions and exceptional client service. Due to recent acquisitions, they are looking for a Financial Accountant with payroll processing experience to join the business.
The Role
As a Financial Accountant with payroll duties, you’ll wear multiple hats, ensuring both financial control and the smooth operation of payroll processes for a team of 250+ employees. Initially, payroll will encompass 50% of your role, reducing to 25% as systems and processes are streamlined (ideally within several months). Key responsibilities will include:
- Support monthly financial reporting, analysis, and provide commercial insights
- Ensure robust financial controls and processes with accurate month-end closures
- Perform monthly payroll processes, including reconciliations and compliance (e.g., Superannuation, Payroll Tax, FBT, Workers’ Compensation, and Novated Leasing)
- Oversee accounting systems and general ledger reconciliations
- Enhance business processes for efficient and accurate reporting
- Partner with business units to analyse performance against budgets and forecasts
- Coordinate audits and manage tax obligations to ensure compliance
- Contribute to finance projects, including system upgrades and process improvements
Qualifications & Experience
We’re seeking a self-starter with a proven track record in corporate accounting alongside expertise in payroll, technical accounting, and compliance with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Other key selection criteria will include:
- Degree in Accounting and CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with payroll systems
- Demonstrated expertise in IFRS/AASB compliance financial statements
- Experience managing payroll for medium-sized teams (100+ employees)
- Ability to independently run payroll processes end-to-end
- Familiarity with payroll legislation, compliance, and process mapping
- Strong time management and organisational skills with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
