They are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join their high performing team based in Brisbane. This is an opportunity for a first mover out of Audit or Business Services, or a commercially skilled Financial Accountant, to take the next step in their career and gain genuine and rapid career development and progression opportunities within a large US listed business.

About the Role

Reporting into the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for developing best practice systems and processes to ensure that all reporting is accurate, timely and relevant. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the overall financial health of the business is supported through the effective delivery of financial and administration requirements of the organisation.

The successful candidate will have superior communication skills with the ability to interact with people at all levels. You will have excellent attention to detail with motivation and determination, the ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. You will utilise your knowledge to deliver accurate and dependable results.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for timely closing of monthly/yearly financial accounts
• Perform month end and year end closing procedures including general ledger adjustments, reclassifications, accruals
• Assist in ensuring that statutory accounts are submitted on an accurate and timely basis
• Prepare GST reports, tax computations
• Processing journal entries and ensure all data is accurate and complete
• Review monthly intercompany reconciliations and ensure all intercompany transactions are trailed
• Ensure financial statements are fairly represented
• Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare Revenue Recognition Reports
• Asset accounting (including additions, disposals, transfer, and project closure)
• Assist in preparation of audit schedules
• Assist in preparation of SG&A budget and forecast
• Prepare financial reports to difference business stakeholders
• Support team in delivery of ad-hoc projects

Skills and Experience

• CPA or CA qualified accountant essential
• 1st mover out of public practice Audit or Business Services OR Commercial experience
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts, including financial reporting
• Technical competency, AASB and IFRS
• Systems abilities and a high level of computer literacy including intermediate Microsoft Excel and large ERP systems skills
• Knowledge of accounting systems and processes
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to make sound business decisions based on the facts
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure
• Knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
• Attention to detail
