The organisation:

The Uniting Church in Australia (the Church) is a large uniquely Australian Christian denomination in Australia with heritage from historical reformed evangelical denominations. In Queensland, the Uniting Church has around 250 congregations and has early childhood, schools, colleges and large community services (such as UnitingCare Queensland and Wesley Mission Queensland).

Position purpose:

Reporting to the General Manager People & Culture, the purpose of this role is to manage the efficient administration of the company's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring seamless functionality, user support, and the delivery of relevant, fit-for-purpose content. This position also oversees end-to-end recruitment processes and supports people leaders in managing underperformance. By integrating these key functions, this position plays a crucial role in fostering a high-performing, well-supported workforce aligned with the Synod’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate the development of learning materials (online and face to face) to be delivered within the Synod Office in accordance with the development documents; corporate guidelines; course development style guides and learner requirements.

Implement and monitor a training calendar for mandatory training across the Synod Office.

Evaluate requests for new LMS courses or to vary existing course content and work with SME’s to curate online education from approved providers to ensure selection is aligned to learning needs and the learning and development framework.

Administrate the Synod’s online learning management system (LMS).

Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and team requirements.

Source potential candidates through various channels including job boards, social media and professional networks.

Assist in reviewing and screening resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.

Schedule and coordinate interviews.

Communicate effectively with candidates through the recruitment process, providing timely updates and feedback.

Manage candidate data and maintain accurate records in our HRIS (Kronos) and SharePoint files.

Coordinate reference checks and any other required pre-employment checks.

Preparation of employment agreements.

Coordination of onboarding for new employees.

Preparation of various letters and updating of employee files in line with changes to employment conditions.

Coach managers in People and Culture practices, such as performance management, remuneration, recruitment, performance management and conflict resolution.

Provide operational advice on industrial relations issues to support enterprise business functions, ensuing advice is based on empirical evidence, is commercially viable and is in accordance with legislative, award and Synod policy requirements, working in partnership with the People and Culture team as required.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of people & culture processes.

Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, clients and stakeholders.

Compliance with Queensland Synod policies, procedures and relevant legislation.

Comply with Health and Safety directions and Public Health directions.

Undertake other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.

Experience & Qualifications:

Qualification in Human Resources and/or Qualification in Business (or working towards), or equivalent experience.
