The Role

The State Manager – SA/NT, will be responsible for managing the overall performance of the South Australia and Northern Territory teams, including contract retention, contract revenue, contract profitability, performance, expenditures, and staffing through delegation of tasks and duties. You will lead, direct, manage and oversee these teams by ensuring efficiency, financial stability, client satisfaction and compliance.

You will be responsible for effective execution of the business strategy and performance.

In addition, this role needs to be in-tune with the industry standards and will play a pivotal role in client relationships and business growth. The position also plays a key role in collaborating with all levels of management in implementing, monitoring, and reviewing organisational strategy. This includes ensuring inter-departmental collaboration beyond individual portfolios, particularly in policy and process creation, carrying out organisational improvement initiatives and risk management processes. Leadership and coaching of your team in a manner that ensures successful outcomes for the individual, the team and the business is paramount.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead, mentor, and support the South Australian and Northern Territory teams to support high performance

Ensure high-quality service delivery across all contracts

Build and maintain strong client relationships

Drive operational efficiencies and compliance with company and safety standards

Contribute to business development and contract retention

Monitor and manage budgets, KPIs, and performance targets

Ensure compliance with WHS and environmental policies

Maintain and enhance an organisation culture that is consistent with the company’s vision and core values.

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or equivalent is preferable.

10+ years industry experience, in a managerial capacity.

Displays proficient negotiation skills and stakeholder management.

Displays commercial nous and aptitude for dealing with general business and financial matters. Has the ability to look and analyse issues from both the client and business perspective.

Ability to communicate with others in a convincing influential way.

Ability to understand and interpret Hours reports and (P&L) budget spreadsheets.

Ability to apply active listening and paraphrasing skills to confirm understanding of the problem.

Can demonstrate and is capable of leading & managing an operational team.

Ability and willingness to take a practical approach and undertake work at an operational level.

Prior experience in leading business process improvement and project management.

Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with high proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations.

Proven ability to understand key financial and business variables in a changing commercial environment.
