Purpose of the Role
The Human Resources Manager will lead and manage core HR functions across five private day surgery centres, focusing on recruitment, onboarding, compliance with healthcare awards, and staff engagement. This hands-on role is critical to supporting Direct Endoscopy’s operational growth, workforce stability, and compliance with accreditation and industrial relations standards.
This position does not oversee a large HR team but instead provides high-impact, fit-for-purpose HR leadership in a lean environment, working closely with the executive team, site leaders, and clinicians, with one direct report — the Clinical Educator
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Onboarding
• Coordinate end-to-end recruitment for clinical, administrative, and support roles.
• Manage onboarding processes, including credentialing, police checks, WWCC, and health clearances.
• Develop and maintain standardised employment contracts, PDs, and onboarding packs.
2. Workforce Compliance & Industrial Relations
• Interpret and apply the Nurses Award 2020 and other relevant industrial instruments.
• Provide advice to site managers on performance management, grievances, and terminations.
• Maintain HR records in line with Fair Work and healthcare legislation.
3. Organisational Development & Engagement
• Support a positive workplace culture aligned to Direct Endoscopy’s values.
• Design and lead small-scale staff engagement surveys and feedback loops.
• Provide advice and training to management team on people management.
4. Accreditation & Governance Support
• Assist in preparing documentation and HR compliance for accreditation audits (NSQHS).
• Maintain up-to-date records for staff qualifications, mandatory training, and immunisations.
5. Reporting & Projects
• Provide monthly HR dashboards (turnover, recruitment activity, leave, etc.)
• Support the COO in workforce planning and restructuring initiatives.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
• Minimum 5 years' HR generalist experience, preferably in healthcare, aged care, or hospital settings.
• Strong knowledge of Australian workplace legislation and modern awards.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment and onboarding across clinical roles.
• Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, self-directed and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
• Experience with NSQHS standards and accreditation processes.
• Exposure to rostering platforms (e.g., Bright HR).
• Familiarity with small or multi-site organisations.
Travel Requirements
This is a Melbourne-based, multi-site role. Regular travel across all five day surgery locations will be expected.
