
Community Development Officer – Supporting Men in the South

About the Position
We have a unique opportunity to work across three Council-managed community centres at Aberfoyle Park, Aldinga and Seaford to further connect and engage with men across a range of existing programs and services.
Reporting to the Coordinator Community Centres and Strategic Projects, and working closely with the Community Development team, this role provides a community development approach to increasing and enhancing men’s participation in the community, specifically Council-managed community centres.
The role will require regular reporting on key objectives and actions that relate to improving men’s participation, social and emotional wellbeing and quality of life across the Onkaparinga community.
About You
The right candidate will bring highly developed people skills, including an ability to connect, communicate with men, understanding specific issues that face of a wide range of ages, backgrounds and experiences. You are results-focused and committed to marking a difference in people’s lives, bringing a calm and relational manner to achieving community goals.
Experience working in community development, specifically in working with men are essential and knowledge of the local community would be advantageous.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Proven experience in Community Development, particularly in working with men
- Sound understanding of the unique issues facing men and their participation within the community
- Proven experience in connecting and engaging with community members
- Proven experience in coordinating and running community programs
- Ability to work across multiple centres and collaborate with a range of stakeholders
- Highly developed communication skills, including negotiation skills
