The Organisation:
TheMHS Learning Network (TheMHS) is a not-for-profit organisation that creates shared, multidisciplinary learning opportunities for people working in and contributing to, the mental health sector in both Australia and New Zealand.
TheMHS aims to promote positive attitudes about mental health and mental illness, and to stimulate debate that will challenge the boundaries of present knowledge and ideas about mental health care. Therefore, we particularly welcome application from people with a personal experience of living with mental health challenges or of providing care to someone with that experience
TheMHS is run by a small supportive team, that prides itself on being inclusive and ensuring success is achieved together as we aim to create a difference in the mental health sector.
Working hours: Part-time role (30 hours a week)
Contract period: From 1 July 2025 to 30 September 2026 (14 months) with the possibility of extension after this date.
Location: TheMHS office in Balmain. With working from home arrangements available after probation.
The Role:
You will be providing support to the Events Manager to deliver high-quality in-person and web-based meetings, events, and conferences.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage the delivery of high-quality in-person and web-based meetings, events, and conferences through strong attention to detail, customer service, collaboration and communication.
Communicating with event attendees regarding the event and registrations.
Keep track of event budgets with a view to cost efficiency.
Ensure all technological issues for events are managed efficiently.
Stakeholder management (internal and external) in relation to each event.
Accurately maintain events database which includes (but is not limited to) event metrics, budgets, invoicing, registrations, and event collateral.
Liaise with the Events Manager to ensure synergy and optimised events.
Provide office administration assistance such as answering phones and ordering office supplies.
To be successful for this role you will need:
Qualifications in events management or related field (or working towards)
Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both autonomously and as a team player
Desirable skills but not essential are:
1- 2 years’ experience in events coordination
An interest in the mental health sector
EventsAir experience preferred
Experience with hosting meetings on Zoom and Microsoft Teams
What we offer:
This role is part-time (30 hours a week) with flexibility for the right candidate.
After probation hybrid working arrangement can be discussed – flexibility to work from home and flexible hours.
Salary between $55 000 - $60 000 plus super (pro rata) depending on experience.
