School Infrastructure (SI) is delivering new and upgraded schools across NSW to ensure every school-aged child has access to high quality education facilities at their local public school. This encompasses the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

As a Community Engagement Officer, you will support SI Community Engagement Managers with communications and engagement tasks related to major infrastructure projects, develop, implement best practice communication and engagement strategies for a portfolio of smaller infrastructure projects and play a major role in triaging calls and emails that come through to the SI phone line and inbox.

This role works with limited supervision and guidance to achieve overall work commitments developed in agreement with the supervisor or manager.

In matters that are sensitive, high-risk or business-critical, the role holder consults with the manager to agree on a suitable course of action.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications and or a related discipline and or equivalent experience within community engagement.
  • Experience in community consultation, either in the public or private sector.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet tight timeframes.
  • Ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with community representatives, school and departmental staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications for diverse audience and translate complex information into plain English.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to use and create digital tools such as surveys to effectively engage community members.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
  • Ability to travel to outer suburban and regional locations and work outside of core business hours in the evening and on weekends, as required.

This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee.
