About the role

The Town of Mosman Park is seeking a passionate and experienced Community Engagement Officer to drive meaningful community engagement initiatives and provide best practice advice and support to Town staff when undertaking community engagement initiatives. Reporting to Manager Marketing and Communications, you will play a key role in embedding community engagement as a core element of decision-making, ensuring strong relationships with residents, stakeholders, and internal teams.

In this collaborative role, you will design and implement innovative engagement strategies, provide professional guidance on best practices, and lead the major and minor reviews of the Towns Strategic Community Plan. This is an exciting opportunity to create meaningful change by enhancing community participation and strengthening connections within the Town of Mosman Park.

Key responsibilities

  • Engagement & Relationships: Develop and implement community engagement strategies while building strong connections with residents, businesses, and stakeholders.
  • Community Outreach: Facilitate consultations, workshops, and events to encourage participation and collaboration, strengthening community connections.
  • Digital Engagement & Data Insights: Manage the Town’s online engagement platform, gather feedback, and produce reports to inform decision-making.
  • Training & Support: Support internal teams by providing training and advice on best-practice engagement methodologies.
  • Policy & Risk Management: Maintain engagement policies and identify potential risks.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to enhance engagement initiatives and strengthen community involvement.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in community engagement, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering engagement strategies.
  • IAP2 best practice engagement principles (highly desirable).
  • Experience working with community groups, businesses, and government agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Local government experience (highly desirable).
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
