A Laboratory Technical Officer provides essential support to all company activities, working with the Laboratory Manager, Managing Director and other team members to achieve commercial success for the purpose of undertaking the functions essential in the daily running of the commercial and research laboratory.

Laboratory

Carry out all laboratory activities as directed

Preparation and processing of daily commercial samples

Assist other staff with project samples

Carry out data entry and reporting of laboratory testing

Use technology to generate reports and communicate laboratory results to, and interact with, technical advice for customers

Calibration of laboratory equipment and solutions

Maintain a clean and functional laboratory and lab equipment

Perform any other duties as may be determined

Research/Training

Build & maintain client relationships

Make certain that client needs are met as the project evolves

Assist with logistics, planning and other laboratory arrangements

General

Undertake training as appropriate to the job

Enrol in and complete courses or undertake training within the company to gain essential skills to complete duties. Training provided by an RTO

Assist with overall customer service of all clients

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Laboratory experience preferable but not essential, as on the job training will be provided

Previous roles requiring data collection and/or scientific report writing an advantage

Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently

Ability to be flexible in the developing role as part of a small business

Familiarity with Microsoft Office and project management tools

Organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

Able to be client-facing and internal communication skills

Customer service focused

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong critical and creative thinking and analytical skills

Knowledge of the veterinary and animal health industry
