Who's hiring?
None other than one of South Australia's most progressive and innovative councils – City of Prospect! We're not your run-of-the-mill council; we're proudly dynamic and innovative, right next to the Adelaide CBD. Known for our progressive approach and dedication to our residents, we're on the hunt for a Finance Officer – Rates and Receivables to join our vibrant team.
As Finance Officer – Rates and Receivables, you will apply your skills to deliver high-quality services in rating and property management processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and legislative requirements.
So, what's the role?
In this role, you will support the delivery of Council’s rating revenue and property services by processing reports from external agencies, reconciling banking transactions, and assisting with property searches in line with legislative requirements. You’ll work closely with the Senior Rates Officer to manage ownership changes, maintain key databases, and provide accurate, timely advice to ratepayers on assessments, concessions, and valuations.
Here's what you’ll dive into:
· Issuing invoices and statements, supporting debt recovery processes, and ensuring data integrity across Council’s financial and property systems.
· Undertaking daily bank reconciliation for Councils bank account and all monthly reconciliations, banking and receipting.
· Processing change of ownership, Land Titles office reports and change of billing.
· Provide accurate information through phone enquires and other correspondence
· Maintain the accuracy of the Name and Address register, Property database and street register.
Enough about us—let’s talk about whether this role is for you!
If you enjoy problem-solving, staying organized, and making a real difference in your community, this role brings plenty of variety where no two days are the same!
Do you have local government experience in Finance, Rating or Customer Service?
Do you have knowledge of local government legislation, policies that impact on cash receipting, as well as property and rating activities of Council? If not a willingness to learn?
Have you got solid ‘hands on’ experience working for and with the community and providing a high quality of customer service?
