THE OPPORTUNITY
Salary: $130,000 per annum pro rata + 11.5% super + leave loading.
Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT.
Location: Chadstone campus – with onsite parking and close proximity to public transport.
Position Status: Ongoing contract of appointment with a 6-month qualifying period.
The Holmesglen Technology Services Department (TSD) supports the technological infrastructure and services essential for both academic and administrative functions as well as the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems. The department also plays a crucial role in providing expert technical support to staff and students.
The Enterprise Database Administrator provides strategic advice, database administration services and technical support across key Institute platforms and applications. It ensures the integrity, availability and security of database systems, conducts disaster recovery tests and manages backups. Key responsibilities include maintaining database code, backend integrations and compliance with policies and best practices. The role also involves staying informed on industry trends, recommending improvements, offering staff training and supporting software installations and configurations. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate records and generating custom reports to support the delivery of high-quality technical services.
ABOUT YOU
- Degree and/or post graduate qualification in computer information and communication technology, database management technologies or similar disciplines with relevant experience.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in the development and use of Oracle products, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) and Oracle procedural language PL/SQL.
- A suitable combination of lesser qualifications with extensive experience and management expertise in a relevant technical field may be accepted.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the implementation, support and maintenance of computer systems and applications including Oracle, LINUX (various), Ellucian Banner, Argos Reporting, Celcat Timetabler.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communications skills, and customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and appropriately with stakeholders.
Exceptional time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated capacity to meet timelines, and to work concurrently on and prioritise multiple tasks and competing work schedules.
- Ability to show initiative, a demonstrated capacity for self-directed work as well as working cooperatively, flexibly and harmoniously within a team environment.
- Well-developed analytical, problem solving and research skills, including the ability to review and interpret data and develop comprehensive reports.
