The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Authorised Inspection Stations Coordinator to join our team.
This role involves managing the Vehicle Assurance Team, financial, and physical resources, ensuring effective staff performance, and fostering a positive learning and continuous improvement environment. Key responsibilities include coordinating resources with the Manager Vehicle and Governance Assurance, providing effective reporting and oversight of staff performance, and supporting ongoing development and training.
Additionally, the Coordinator will assist in the development and management of business plans, contribute to AIS policies and procedures, and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Effective liaison and communication with management, operational staff, and stakeholders are crucial, as is providing expertise on vehicle inspection standards and licensing matters. The role also involves identifying and implementing changes to the Vehicle Inspection System (VIS) programs, ensuring effective task allocation and staff availability, monitoring, auditing and training AIS scheme participants, and providing advisory services.
The ideal candidate will have experience in team and resource management, strategic planning, and policy development, with strong communication skills and expertise in vehicle inspection standards. There is currently (1) one fixed term appointment available for immediate filling for a period of 6 months, with the possibility of extension or permanency.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.
About you
- Demonstrate possession of an Automotive Trade Certificate
- Demonstrate experience of a broad automotive background including both heavy and light vehicles
- Achieve results through the development of performance indicators and performance assessment methodologies
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and carry out a variety of duties through being flexible and adaptable to suit customer and stakeholder needs
- Demonstrate experience in the application of Australian Design Rules (ADRs) in the context of vehicle examinations.
- Can demonstrate high level of written communication skills and prepare reports based on compliance audits and investigations.
- Has the ability to communicate with customers, staff and stakeholders at all levels, and deal with those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
