THE POSITION:
Council is seeking suitably qualified planning professionals with extensive experience in the assessment of development applications to join our development planning team. A high standard of inter-personal communication, negotiation and writing skills are essential. The position would ideally be suited to planning professionals seeking to work in a dynamic and fast paced team environment where you will be exposed to interesting and diverse projects across the Fairfield LGA.
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual capable of exercising delegation as well as the ability to manage a number of complex development proposals simultaneously to deliver timely and high-quality assessments, preparation of planning reports within various forums such as the Sydney Western Planning Panel (SWCPP) and Council's Fairfield Local Planning Panel (FLPP), ability to represent Council in the Land and Environment Court in addition to directing and facilitating input into Council's planning policies and strategies.
ESSENTIAL:
- University degree in urban and regional planning, town planning or related discipline
- Extensive experience in assessing major and complex development applications under the relevant legislation
- Good communication and report writing skills
- Sound working knowledge of all relevant planning legislation
- Experience in the Land and Environment Court including preparation of court related documentation
- Conflict resolution/negotiation skills
- A valid driver's licence
DESIRABLE:
- Post graduate qualifications in urban and regional planning or related discipline
- Experience in urban design and principles of architecture
- Experience in staff supervision/mentoring
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Full time, permanent position - 35 hours per week
- This position is a Grade 8; salary range is $111,164 p.a. with performance progression to $130,215. p.a.
- Flexible working hours are available
