ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager Programs (AOD, Justice, Housing), This is an exciting role for an experienced manager with a passion for culturally led service responses, innovation, and ensuring people who are rough sleeping in Perth, are supported to find and maintain accommodation. Above all, it is an opportunity to support a new and inclusive model of service delivery for people who are rough sleeping in Perth, especially, Aboriginal people.
Working in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders, this position will support Wungening in developing and implementing an exciting new range of services, further enabling our ability to build a healthy safe, strong, and sustainable Aboriginal Community.
Wungening are working to deliver a homelessness hostel as a direct response to the current homelessness crisis, e.g. Tent City, on behalf of the Department of Communities.
The project to deliver this hostel is well underway, and the Manager Housing and Homelessness, will support the partnership to acquire, develop, and deliver a new, innovative, inclusive, and culturally led model of service to the people experiencing rough sleeping in Perth.
The Manager Housing and Homelessness needs to be a strong communicator, supporting the sector and external bodies, to have confidence in the partnership and service model. The role will build relationships with the key internal and external stakeholders, key agencies in the sector as well as funding bodies, and put a structure in place to ensure quality, safety, and culturally appropriate delivery of these services.
This role will play a crucial part in the progression of Wungening’s strategy to become a key player in Housing and Homelessness, supporting Aboriginal people to have the access they need and deserve.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
A passion for culturally led service responses, innovation, and ensuring people who are rough sleeping in Perth, are supported to find and maintain accommodation.
Commitment to uphold the right to informed consent, privacy, and confidentiality, for our clients.
Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people particularly as it relates to housing and homelessness challenges.
Relevant experience and tertiary qualification.
Understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and external standards that apply to relevant work practices.
Demonstrated experience in the management and leadership of teams.
Outcomes focussed with proved track record in achieving results.
Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage conflict.
Ability to coordinate teams, work under pressure, meet deadlines and act decisively.
Demonstrated ability to manage the delivery of holistic support to individuals experiencing crisis due to homelessness which may include substance abuse, disability and mental health issues.
