The Role

The Diving, Autonomous and Signatures System Program Office (DAS SPO) is looking to fill an EL 1 Contract Manager role. DAS SPO delivers sustainment support for Signature Management, Missile Telemetry, Underwater Tracking, and Surface & Subsurface Target assets and services as Navy require. Scope for this office includes management of contracts to support permanent and mobile maritime ranges, afloat acoustic services, target services and magnetic treatment facilities, together with specialist equipment and expertise.

As an EL 1 Contract Manager you will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role as the SPO Deputy Director delivering Chief of Navy Product Schedule CN11. Sound decision making, leadership and judgement to provide expert policy advice. In-depth knowledge and experience in Contract Management and proven experience in responsibility for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures.

You will also engage in complex problem solving and issues management and may coordinate and perform detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for MSD and Defence. You will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team

The DAS SPO is responsible for the sustainment and through-life support of the Mine Hunter Coastal vessels, Deployable Autonomous and Robotic Mine Warfare Systems, Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour, Mine Clearance Diving, Hyperbaric Systems, General Specialist Dive Equipment, Signature Management, Telemetry and Tracking Ranges, as well as target services so the Australian Defence Force (ADF) can fight and win in the Maritime environment. DAS SPO operates under Assistant Secretary Specialist Ships and is part of the Maritime Sustainment Division of the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG).

Our Ideal Candidate

The Diving, Autonomous and Signatures System Program Office (DAS SPO) is looking for skilled professionals who have strong communication, stakeholder management, and possess strong Product and/or Contract Management acumen. You will need to have the ability to think strategically, apply judgement and comfortable in managing risk and achieving capability outcomes in a collaborative manner.

You will be passionate about continuous improvements focusing on both policy and business processes, with the ability to motivate and influence others to drive change. A track record in effectively working in teams, and/or leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing a number of dynamic competing priorities to achieve results.
