The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) is a corporate Commonwealth entity established under the ATSI Act and subject to the PGPA Act. The ILSC assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to realise economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits that the ownership and management of land, water and water related rights can bring. The ILSC provides this assistance through the acquisition and management of rights and interests in land, salt water and fresh water country.
About the Role
The Business Development Manager, under the Western Division General Manager, will lead and implement projects that deliver economic, environmental, social, or cultural benefits to Indigenous Australians and enhance the Indigenous estate. Key responsibilities include acquiring land and water assets for Indigenous organisations and developing management projects to support their goals and maximise the productivity of their assets.
Key Duties
- Develop and deliver innovative solutions that align with stakeholder goals and ILSC objectives.
- Secure investment for and implement large-scale acquisitions and management projects in line with ILSC objectives.
- Lead project groups, ensuring awareness of responsibilities and obligations, including risk management.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including Indigenous organizations and government agencies.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and manage effective stakeholder relationships.
- Lead and motivate the team, providing strategic advice across organizational boundaries.

Selection Criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and build strategic relationships with partners and stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with Indigenous businesses and organizations to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies using sound project and contract management principles.
- Experience in developing and supporting sustainable businesses in both the non-government and commercial sectors.
- Strong research, analysis, and due diligence skills to provide advice and make recommendations.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team, managing priorities and tasks effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams, influencing and empowering others.
- Experience in leading, motivating, and developing capability in self and others, supporting the Western Division General Manager.
