Fixed Term Contract – end of Dec 2025 (with possibility of extension)

Youturn is a not-for-profit organisation committed to supporting people in times of vulnerability.

Are you passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences that have the power to transform lives?

Youturn is seeking a dedicated Learning and Development Coordinator to lead the creation of innovative, evidence-informed learning solutions that support individuals and communities bereaved by suicide. As part of the StandBy Support After Suicide program, you will help shape the future of postvention training by integrating research, lived experience, and best practices into high-impact educational resources.

Position Overview

The Learning and Development Coordinator is responsible for driving instructional design excellence and developing impactful learning resources that build the capacity of staff, stakeholders, and community members. The role requires a strong understanding of postvention principles, grief-informed practices, and adult learning methodologies.

Working closely with internal teams and sector partners, the coordinator will oversee the full learning lifecycle — from needs analysis and resource development to facilitation, evaluation, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver contemporary, evidence-based learning programs and resources aligned with StandBy’s strategic priorities.

Identify training needs through consultation, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

Lead the development of workshops, manuals, e-learning modules (including Articulate Rise), and other learning formats.

Promote and embed a culture of continuous professional development across the organisation.

Provide strategic oversight of learning initiatives for both internal staff and external stakeholders, including priority populations.

Maintain a curated library of endorsed learning materials and ensure regular content updates.

Lead operational planning and monitor the impact and effectiveness of learning activities in alignment with evaluation frameworks.

Engage collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, ensuring culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to postvention learning.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in a learning and development or instructional design role, preferably within the mental health, grief, or community services sectors.

Tertiary qualifications in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (desirable).

Demonstrated understanding of suicide bereavement and grief, including trauma-informed care, postvention support, and resilience-building models.

Proven experience in developing and delivering strategic learning initiatives that respond to complex psychosocial needs.

Proficiency in e-learning design and delivery tools, particularly Articulate Rise or similar.

Experience using and optimising a Learning Management System (LMS).

Recognition as an ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Trainer is desirable.
