What You'll Be Doing:

Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) Reproductive Medicine Department provides a range of comprehensive services in the Outpatient/Ambulatory Care setting to assist women/partners with fertility issues. Services provided include specialised medical clinics, diagnostic investigations, ovulation tracking, fertility assisted procedures, pelvic ultrasound, fertility treatment programs, fertility preservation, male fertility clinic, sperm donor management, recurrent miscarriage clinic and Early Pregnancy Assessment Service. The Registered Nurse duties after training include phlebotomy, ultrasounds, patient education, cycle monitoring intrauterine inseminations and assisting in the preparation for clinics. The Registered Nurse is responsible to the Nurse Unit Manager with a professional reporting line to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services and function within the Policies and Procedures of the Ministry of Health, Royal Hospital for Women, and the Nursing Division. The Registered Nurse interacts with patients and their partners and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the Hospital mission of providing care in partnership with women.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  3. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI principles.
  8. Recent postgraduate experience in Women’s Health with recent experience within IVF.
