About the role
Are you ready to lead and innovate? As the Records Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in managing North Burnett Regional Council's Records Management function. Reporting to the Information Management Stream Leader, you will oversee the Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS), ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and supporting the organisation’s operations.
You will lead the Records Team, drive impactful projects, and champion best practices in Information Management across the organisation. While some tasks may feel familiar, this role offers the excitement of variety, with no two days ever unfolding in exactly the same way. Your expertise will be key to enhancing the success and efficiency of Council's operations.
About you
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Records Management professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will bring comprehensive knowledge of Records Management Frameworks, including the Public Records Act 2023, and experience administering Electronic Document Records Management Systems (EDRMS).
Your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage projects will ensure success in this role. Ideally, you will also have experience coordinating Right to Information and Information Privacy requests and be comfortable applying retention and disposal schedules.
Your proven leadership skills will enable you to supervise and inspire our Records Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will hold tertiary qualifications in Records Management or a related discipline or have extensive relevant experience. A general understanding of the local government sector is desirable, along with the ability to lead significant records management projects.
You are proficient with Microsoft 365, possess a high standard of customer service, and can manage competing priorities with ease. If you are passionate about effective information management and ready to make a difference in a dynamic local government environment, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)
Demonstrated experience in the coordination and processing of Right to Information and Information Privacy requests.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Public Records Act 2023, Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.
Demonstrated knowledge of Records Management Frameworks, Retention and Disposal Schedules, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience as the administrator of an Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS), including system settings and security.
Demonstrated data entry and word processing skills, and a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint), and Council’s Information Management Systems (MagiQ Documents, MagiQ Enterprise), or ability to rapidly acquire same.
Sound knowledge of Council’s standard work practices, procedures and policies, the underlying discipline principles, and statutory requirements relevant to the work area.
Exercise sound judgement, and a high degree of initiative, confidentiality, sensitivity and a degree autonomy in the coordination of a work area.
Ability to contribute knowledge, skills, interpretation and administration to further develop work methods where general work procedures are not defined.
Ability to assist with the preparation of or prepare work area budgets.
Ability to undertake responsibility and co-ordination of moderately complex projects.

The North Burnett Regional Council is established as a body corporate under the Local Government Act 2009
The Council came into existence on the 15 March, 2008 following the Queensland local government reform process which resulted in the amalgamation of 6 Shires – Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Perry and Biggenden , into the new North Burnett Regional Council.
The elected Council is the law making body and consists of the Mayor and 6 Councillors. The administration of Council is headed by the Chief Executive Officer.
