Role Purpose
The Weighbridge Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all weighbridge operations, ensuring the team operates efficiently and accurately while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies. The role also focuses on driving continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and manage the weighbridge team, providing clear direction, support, and coaching to ensure optimal performance.
Develop and implement training programs to enhance team capabilities and ensure compliance with operational requirements.
Plan and coordinate team schedules, ensuring the weighbridge is adequately staffed during all operational hours.
Conduct performance reviews, deliver constructive feedback, and implement strategies to improve individual and team performance.
Manage leave schedules to maintain operational coverage in accordance with company policies.
Operational Oversight
Supervise all weighbridge transactions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of recorded data.
Oversee the operation of the weighbridge, including the weighing of incoming and outgoing vehicles and materials when required.
Ensure all transactions are compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements, supported by accurate documentation and permits.
Identify, investigate, and report any discrepancies in weights, materials, or documentation to the Operations Manager and implement corrective actions as needed.
Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of weighbridge operations.
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
Monitor and maintain detailed records of weighbridge activities and prepare reports as required.
Actively participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Act as a role model for HSE practices, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.
Monitor the team’s adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
Take immediate action to address unsafe conditions, behaviors, or incidents and report them promptly.
Halt any activity posing an imminent risk to health, safety, or the environment and implement appropriate corrective measures.
Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including drivers, site supervisors, and customers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for weighbridge operations, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Communicate effectively with the team, management, and stakeholders to align on goals, priorities, and expectations.
General Responsibilities
Collaborate with customers, team members, and management to foster a positive and productive work environment aligned with company values.
Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and optimize contributions to RINO Recycling.
Undertake additional duties, projects, or responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Ability to work flexible work hours and roster including day, afternoon and weekend shifts.
Key Skills and Experience
Minimum 2 years experience working in weighbridge environments within waste/logistics industry (or similar)
Education and Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Skills and Knowledge
Extensive experience as a weighbridge operator, with a proven track record in supervisory or management roles.
Strong technical proficiency in computerised weighbridge systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive and results-driven approach, with resilience and adaptability in a constantly evolving business environment.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a culture of operational excellence.
