Your role and impact:
We are seeking a visible and approachable Ambassador for Safety, Wellbeing, and Safeguarding to provide day-to-day advice and support across our teams. In this role, you will be a key resource for all aspects of safety and well-being, ensuring that our workplace remains a supportive and secure environment.
As the Ambassador, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining an engaged culture that prioritizes:
Safety & Wellbeing: Promoting a workplace where everyone feels safe and supported.
Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
Quality and Continuous Improvement: Fostering an environment where standards are consistently improved and maintained.
Reporting to the Senior Safety & Wellbeing Partner, your responsibilities will include empowering and supporting teams to be safe, skilled, and confident in their roles. You will also coach and guide participants, helping them pursue their goals with confidence and assurance. This position requires a strong focus on proactive engagement, helping teams align with the organization’s values while contributing to a culture of growth and continuous development.
As a Safety and Wellbeing Partner, you will work closely with a variety of internal teams, including Safeguarding Advisors, People Business Partners and Social Enterprise Supervisors. Your role will be central to building strong, positive relationships across all levels of the organisation. Together, you will ensure the organisation has the right systems, skills, and capabilities to successfully deliver on strategic objectives and organisational priorities. Through effective collaboration, you will help foster a culture that prioritises safety, wellbeing, and the ongoing development of employees.
What you need to make a difference:
- Keep up to date on any legislative and regulatory requirements, as applicable to Good Sammy and ensure understanding and compliance in our teams.
- Ensure engagement and compliance with Good Sammy’s Workplace Health, Safety and Wellbeing Systems by our teams.
- Coordinate day to day safety and wellbeing tasks as required including incident management, providing timely advice and support on WHS matters, developing WHS initiatives, delivering tool box talks and presentations and other day to day safety and reporting functions.
- Conduct participant safeguarding assessments and support the implementation of effective practices, ensuring safeguarding measures are integrated into all aspects of participant support, including risk management and care plans.
- Design, deliver, and facilitate training programs on safety and wellbeing practices to ensure all staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to maintain a safe work environment.
- Lead the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Assist with the development and implementation of return-to-work strategies for employees who have been absent due to injury or illness.
- Champion the organisation's safety and wellbeing culture, encouraging proactive engagement with safety initiatives and fostering a shared responsibility for health and safety among all staff members.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections, review and update existing documents, and develop new policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding standards
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including the NDIS, Quality & Safeguards Commission, WorkSafe, and WARRRL, by monitoring, reporting, and maintaining up-to-date documentation to meet all legal and organisational requirements.
- Serve as the First Aid Officer and Fire Warden, providing response to medical emergencies and ensuring effective fire safety protocols are followed during drills and actual emergencies
Essential Selection Criteria
Experience in a hands on safety role for no less than 2 years.
You will have a Cert 4 in WHS (or higher) and ideally hold a qualification or experience in training or coaching others.
Experience managing a range of hazards and incidents, developing proactive programs and initiatives to minimise risk and promote the health and wellbeing of workers.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive customer (internal and external) relations.
Drivers Licence.
