Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in Autodesk Inventor to join our team specializing in mining equipment and components. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing robust and efficient mechanical solutions for the demanding environment of the mining industry. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize Autodesk Inventor to develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for mining equipment and components, ensuring they meet the rigorous performance and safety standards required for mining applications.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and manufacturing teams to develop innovative designs that address the specific needs and challenges of the mining industry.
• Lead design reviews and guide junior designers, ensuring designs adhere to industry standards and best practices.
• Participate in prototype builds and field testing, iterating on designs based on feedback and performance data gathered from real-world mining environments.
• Conduct comprehensive design analyses, including stress analysis and fatigue analysis, to validate and optimize designs for durability and reliability in harsh mining conditions.
• Stay abreast of advancements in mechanical design and Autodesk Inventor software, actively seeking opportunities to improve design processes and enhance product performance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and a demonstrated track record of designing mining equipment or heavy machinery.
• Extensive knowledge of mining equipment and components, including familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
• Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and experience applying GD&T principles to engineering drawings for mining applications.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct detailed design analyses and optimize designs for performance, reliability, and safety.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Leadership experience, including the ability to lead design projects, mentor junior designers, and drive projects to successful completion.
• Nice to have: Knowledge of Point Cloud for efficient data handling and processing in the context of mining equipment design.
