About the Role
We are seeking applications for the full-time (Maternity leave cover) role of Accountant. This is an essential role providing professional support to the Financial Accountant and Director – Finance and Business in managing the Trust’s financial systems and procedures. This role also provides support and back-up to all key identified positions with the Finance and Business Unit, primarily events settlements, trust, and accounts payable/receivable positions.
Accounting qualifications or significant progress towards completing CPA/CA studies are required for this role.
In this role you will:
Oversee and support the Accounts Payable function and systems, ensuring processes are operating efficiently, effectively and are compliant with internal control procedures. This includes creating new and maintaining existing suppliers, dealing with all correspondence received into the section, invoice matching, data entry and processing payments.
Analyse and reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts and major expense accounts, including precise tracking of Items Under Construction and Fixed Assets accounts
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including cash flow, monthly business unit and board reports.
Research and assist in the development of financial policies and monitor their effective implementation, particularly the Financial Management Practice Manual.
Provide support and relieve other Finance team members, in particular preparation of all offsite event settlements.
Oversee the settlements function to achieve prompt event settlements to clients, including reading and understanding contract terms for implementation, liaise with clients and QTIX to solve settlement, refund and ticketing issues.
Provide assistance and support to the Accounts Receivable function and manage the debtors aged trial balance to ensure collection of debts are done efficiently.
Manage and coordinate the corporate credit card process including system administration (Concur) issuing and cancelling cards, resolving cardholder queries and issuing reports as required.
Prepare accruals, prepayments, recurring and other journals required, such as quarterly for statutory payroll clearing accounts and post them in Finance system.

About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for:
Demonstrated ability in financial analysis and the preparation of financial reports and policies.
Demonstrated ability in preparing complex reconciliations.
Demonstrated ability in the interpretation and application of accounting standards and taxation legislation, including FBT and GST.
Demonstrated ability in monitoring and providing information on financial statements.
Demonstrated ability to use initiative, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise with a wide variety of internal and external clients including auditors.
Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerised accounting systems.
