About the Role
Are you passionate about finance and administration? Join the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation as a Finance & Administration Officer. In this pivotal role, you'll support the Foundation's financial and administrative operations to ensure excellence, compliance, and efficiency. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll play a key part in the smooth running of our organisation, which is dedicated to improving health care outcomes for the Far North Queensland community.
What You’ll Be Doing
Manage bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and assistance with financial audits.
Order and track equipment purchases, including collecting applications and ensuring correct procedures are followed.
Ensure month-end processes are completed in a timely manner, and perform ad-hoc financial analyses as required.
Provide administrative support, including document management, data entry, and maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, donors, and CHHHS staff
Ensure compliance with financial and administrative policies and statutory regulations while contributing to process improvements.
Operate electronic accounting systems, such as MYOB, DEXT, Swiftpos, and Employment Hero.
Support the Foundation’s commercial operations, such as food services, car park management, and fundraising.
Reconcile GST, Superannuation, BAS, and IAS, and manage payroll-related HR requirements.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive individual with:
Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar finance or administration role
Strong proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, and other office productivity tools
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to delivering high-quality work and exceptional customer service

About Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation
The Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation is a non-profit charitable organisation that supports Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service, or in geographical terms - from Cardwell to the Torres Strait.
This area includes nine hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and 53 primary health centres and encompasses a population of about 270,000 people.
Our hospital and health service primary care areas: womens, paediatric, indigenous, men's, cardiac, thoracic and mental health, orthopaedics, general, emergency and tropical medicine, cancer care, medical research, rural and remote, health education including preventative lifestyle strategies.
