Randstad is partnering with a highly regarded, well-established and proudly Australian engineering company who offer innovative and tailored equipment and solutions, designed specifically for managing and processing animal by-products. Our clients are currently recruiting for a pivotal role of a PRODUCTION MANAGER to be based at the site in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
About the Role:
As the Production Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all manufacturing projects, while fostering a productive and safe working environment. You will lead a dedicated factory team, manage production schedules, and play a key role in both in-house manufacturing and on-site maintenance/repair work. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the continued success and growth of an industry leader that is family owned and operated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor all factory staff, setting clear individual work programs to maximise efficiency and skill development.
- Manufacturing Operations Management: Oversee all manufacturing activities, ensuring consistent productivity, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
- Production Planning and Forecasting: Develop and implement effective production schedules to meet project timelines and client expectations.
- On-Site Service Management: Prepare quotations and manage all aspects of on-site maintenance and repair work, including facilitating and supervising on-site teams.
- Safety and Compliance: Act as an active member of the WH&S committee and a qualified First Aid Officer, championing safe manufacturing practices and maintaining a clean and organized workshop.
- Supply Chain Oversight: Oversee the Purchasing Officer to ensure timely and efficient procurement of factory-related consumables and raw materials in line with the production schedule.
- Tooling and Equipment Management: Review and maintain tooling purchases, and contribute to the identification of future capital equipment requirements.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment. Ideally from both a Fabrication & Machinery background.
- Formal qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field are advantageous.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control principles.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- A proactive approach to Workplace Health and Safety, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
