Description
Production Control
Manage production scheduling and daily operations in the foundry and Pattern shop, ensuring process and product quality.
Lead weekly production meetings to review customer orders, set priorities, allocate work, and confirm overtime arrangements.
Update the General Manager on production planning and progress.
Monitor daily production schedules, advising staff of significant changes.
Oversee efficiency, safety, and compliance with workplace procedures, working with staff and foremen to achieve quality outcomes.
Organize contractors for site maintenance per the Operations Calendar.
Foundry Management and Quality Assurance
Control pattern mark-up and identification, liaise with Metallurgist for casting IDs on contracts.
Ensure traceability of finished products and manage rejected products.
Maintain Heat Treatment schedule, coordinating with Metallurgists and Foundry Foreman.
Provide customer liaison, manage plant logistics, and ensure proper calibration of equipment.
Address production variations with customers and relevant staff.
Coordinate Knockout Schedule and castings movement to fettling.
Monitor delivery schedules and follow up with customers.
Plan and schedule plant and equipment maintenance.
Collate production and testing reports.
Rejects
Record rejects in McK Manager and report details to senior management.
Initiate corrective actions for remaking castings, consulting the General Manager for complex or high-value products.
Customer Complaints
Capture and record customer complaints on a System Report, gathered from senior management.
Request additional complaints during weekly production meetings.
Summarize and report customer complaints in Management Review Meetings.
Reporting
Prepare reports for Management Review Meetings, including rejected castings, non-conformance details, and customer complaints.
Report rejects and non-conformances to the General Manager and staff with corrective actions and appropriate documentation.
Manage and monitor System Reports for customer complaints, proposed improvements, WHS issues, supplier issues, audit findings, environmental hazards, and preventive actions.
Work with the Document Controller to implement procedural changes in the Foundry.
Human Resources
Arrange external training in consultation with the General Manager.
Provide induction and orientation for new employees and manage records for employees transferring sections.
Maintain up-to-date personnel records, arrange and record training outcomes.
Coordinate in-house training, including spill control and emergency drills.
Oversee apprentice traineeships and maintain records.
WHS
Serve as Emergency Coordinator during foundry emergencies.
Act as WHS Coordinator for the WHS Committee, preparing minutes and following up on action items.
Assist in risk assessments and safety procedure development with the Document Controller.
Ensure compliance with WHS requirements for safe foundry operation.
Quality & Environmental
Maintain spill control procedures and ensure staff training.
Ensure compliance with the Operations Manual and ISO 9001.
Liaise with external auditors, consultants, and Council representatives.
Assist with the review of operating systems and records management.
Complete tasks in the Operations Calendar.
Ensure employee compliance with the Employee Handbook and maintain confidentiality.
Foster a culture of continual improvement.
Profile
Previous experience in a comparable position.
Strong mechanical skills with the ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Exceptional attention to detail with a dedication to upholding high-quality standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on team management and driving continuous improvement in a production environment.
Proficient in operating production equipment and machinery.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing manufacturing environment.
Proficient in using computer software and quick to adapt to new programs.
Job Offer
Salary: $100K per year
Hours: 7.00 AM - 4.00 PM, Monday to Friday
