Our client is a large NSW government department that provides extensive public transport services

The Finance Analyst will reside in an Enterprise Planning, Budgeting and Analytics team that supports a range of operational and capital expenditure for several business units.

Role Description:

The role will undertake research and analysis to coordinate the financial planning, forecasting, analysis and reporting activities to support the branches in meeting their financial and commercial business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Carry out analysis and gather data to provide input to the development of annual budgets, financial plans and forecasts aligned to strategic plans and objectives
• Monitor and report on financial assets to provide information for the preparation of financial analysis and reporting.
• Provide regular reporting, contributing to the ongoing reviews and monitoring of labour and project cost recovery.
• Receive, log and process invoices to facilitate payment in line with payment conditions.
• Establish and maintain systems to facilitate the overall management of invoices - including performing invoice reconciliations and reconcile these with records in service management systems to ensure the information’s integrity.
• Collect, analyse and prepare data to support modelling and analysis.
• Analyse processes and tools to make recommendations that contribute to the continual improvement of financial decision-making.

Skills and Experience:

• Accounting or bookkeeping qualifications
• A blend of detailed financial knowledge and proficiency in analysis and understanding of data
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting - financial planning and analysis
• Experience in transactional high volume processing, reconciliations and reports (such as accounts payable (preferable) /accounts receivable)
• Experience using Finance Systems (SAP in particular) in a complex organisation
• Some experience in NSW government or large corporate environments
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with reporting tools an advantage - experience with Power BI is preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills - able to provide commentary and analysis to stakeholders
• CA or CPA an advantage (not essential)
