Are you a strategic thinker with a strong background in energy markets? We are currently seeking a Senior Energy Market Analyst to join a leading energy business in Melbourne.

About the Role:

As a Senior Energy Market Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the origination and structuring of new business opportunities within the Australian electricity market. You will be responsible for delivering critical analysis and reports that will influence strategic decisions and help shape the future direction of the business. Someone coming from an Energy Trading background would be preferable

Your Responsibilities:

Market Research: Conduct in-depth analysis on market supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, competitors’ behaviour, and regulatory changes.

Data Analysis & Reporting: Provide insightful analysis using financial metrics and create reports, dashboards, and tools to assist decision-making.

Financial Modelling: Build and update models to assess the financial viability of new opportunities and evaluate the risks and returns.

Transaction Support: Provide accurate data for structuring deals and contribute to pre-transaction due diligence.

Client Insight: Use client feedback and data to help shape tailored business solutions and proposals.

Documentation: Assist in the documentation process and ensure compliance with internal policies and audit standards.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside various teams to support smooth transaction execution and strategic development.

What We’re Looking For:

A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.

3-5 years of experience as an Energy Market or Trading Analyst, ideally within the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Strong expertise in energy market analysis with a deep understanding of electricity market structures, regulations, and participants.

Commercial acumen in the thermal, hybrid, renewable, or storage sectors. Experience with PPAs in BESS, Wind, and Solar power stations is a bonus.

Proficiency in data analysis tools and a solid understanding of financial modelling techniques.
