Join our amazing team and be part of an innovative agency that values collaboration, integrity and flexibility while undertaking exciting challenges that benefit the lives of Western Australians.
The Economic Regulation Authority (ERA) is the independent regulator of electricity, gas, water and rail in Western Australia. Our purpose is to benefit all Western Australians by promoting strong economic outcomes through effective regulation and decision making. We strive to make sure current and future consumers pay no more than necessary for safe and reliable utilities.
How we work is just as important to us as what we do. Our people have integrity, strive for excellence, and build trust. To find out more about the Economic Regulation Authority please visit our website www.erawa.com.au
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to supporting and building a culturally diverse workforce and workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion.
We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disabilities, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
About the Role
The ERA is seeking a bright, passionate, curious, and motivated individual to join our Energy Markets Division.
The electricity sector is central to Western Australia’s efforts to address climate change. ERA is responsible for regulating elements of Western Australia’s wholesale electricity market as it navigates decarbonisation of the sector.
The ERA has a strong workplace culture of innovation, working with integrity, striving for excellence, and capability building. Our people are from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, intelligent, passionate and committed, and provide a supportive, collaborative, and collegiate team operating environment. We offer genuine workplace flexibility around further study, school hours, or caring responsibilities.
The Assistant Analyst supports the ERA’s market monitoring and surveillance functions as well as other regulatory projects across other branches in the division.
The role provides opportunities for learning such as the application of principles, data, and evidence to regulation of wholesale electricity markets, electricity market modelling, evidence-based decision making, wrangling big data, and developing communication skills. The work itself is engaging, utilises and develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as an opportunity to apply your research skills and scientific methods. The ERA also encourages both individual initiatives and team collaborations to achieve outcomes.
The successful applicant will be curious with a drive to understand the ‘why’ of a problem beyond the ‘what’.
A full description of the role and organisational context are included in the Job Description Form located on the JobsWA ad.
