About The Role:
The Principal Project Manager implements, manages and coordinates the implementation of Major Projects within the State’s program of works. It provides strategic leadership and direction in specifying and ensuring needs are met in relation to the design and construction of these major projects.
About You:
Principal Project Manager
You will possess strong technical project management skills across the full project life cycle, including delivery, and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment. You will have significant experience in leading project teams, and skills in commercial contract management and the ability to perform in accordance with the program. Good communication skills are required for cross agency project delivery. You will be someone who provides forward thinking and clearly articulated strategic direction and promotes a work environment that empowers, motivates, and develops a highly skilled team capable of delivering key outcomes for government. You will be a solution focussed leader with excellent stakeholder management skills necessary to operate within a complex infrastructure project environment and ability to make decisions and recommendations on significant commercial matters. You will be passionate and committed to deliver value for money outcomes for the State and the community of WA as a whole.
Principal Project Manager (Time, Risk and Issues)
You will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the project. You will be able to interpret, assess, and report on the projects program across various project stages including evaluating progress and providing advice on potential delays. You will be able to develop a monthly report to identify project progress, an overview of the critical path and delay impacts on the program. You will also be able to manage risk / opportunities and issues registers including development of and reporting on treatment action plans and other mitigation measures. You will be a solution focussed leader with excellent stakeholder management skills necessary to operate within a complex infrastructure project environment with the ability to make decisions and recommendations. You will apply your expertise in project scheduling and resource management to drive on-time project completion, identify and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities, ensuring effective mitigation of potential delays or budget impacts.

This requires a significant shift in thinking from ‘doing’ to supporting others to ‘do good work’; and consideration of present and future needs when allocating time to the team and projects you lead. Currently there are two (2) full-time, fixed-term appointment available for filling until 30 June 2030, with the possibility of further extension(s). Whilst this selection process will initially be used to appoint to this advertised vacancies, it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that may arise in the Agency within the next twenty-four (24) months on a full-time, part-time, permanent or fixed-term basis with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
