- Temporary part time 2-year position working 3 days per week
- Salary commencing at $41.81 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (commensurate with experience)
- Work in a supportive team and provide youth participation and engagement opportunities for young people within the municipality
The Opportunity
Build capacity, resilience, strengthen civic participation and community connections for young people aged 12-25 in Moonee Valley through creating opportunities to participate, connect, influence local youth programs. Work directly with young people within a strength based and youth empowerment approach to develop, implement and evaluate youth-led events, and programs.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, evaluate, and report on programs, projects and events for young people, utilising best practice youth work, including youth participation models and frameworks.
- Implement project management practices as well as effective time management and organisation abilities.
- Use a range of participatory engagement processes with young people that provide genuine opportunities to influence and be involved in decision-making processes.
- Provide short-term individual support, including referral and advocacy with and for young people.
- Increase awareness of Valley Youth programs, events and services by using marketing, communications and promotional strategies and activities.
- Maintain accurate records and statistical information for Council and funding reports.
- Actively support and participate in the broader Young Communities team and wider Council to ensure best outcomes for young people are achieved.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in related fields such as Youth Work or similar, or substantial relevant experience working with young people.
- Demonstrated experience working within adolescent development, group work, youth participation and community development frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating youth programs and events, using participatory approaches.
- Demonstrated experience in youth leadership, civic participation and advocacy programs and events.
- Demonstrated experience in working alongside specific cohorts including but not limited to young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIAQ+ young people, young people with disabilities etc.
