Youth Support Case Worker -Youth on Track (Identified)
Fulltime Position - 38hrs per week
About Us
The Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation with the objective and commitment of securing a better future for Aboriginal people in the Orange area. OLALC does this by advocating for the restoration of culturally significant and commercially viable land, pursuing cultural, social, and economic independence for its people, and being politically proactive and vocal about issues affecting Aboriginal people in the area. The OLALC delivers several programs to the community within the LALC boundaries.
About the Position
Youth on Track is a model of early intervention support designed to coordinate and provide services for 10–17-year-old young people before they become entrenched in the criminal justice system. Youth on Track service providers work with eligible young people and their families in case management and programs to address their criminogenic risks and build on existing prosocial behaviours and increase connection to culture.
Supports are tailored to meet the needs and issues that contribute to the young person’s anti-social and/or offending behaviour such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol use, family relationships, living situations, and disengagement from school. Supports may include (but not limited to) case management, evidence-based programs, and co-ordination to access services, cultural activities, mentoring, recreation, and community supports, and may be 1:1 as well as group based.
Objectives
- Partner with community and service providers to identify young people at risk of contact with the criminal justice system
- Ensure families and young people are put at the centre of identifying concerns, solutions, the type, and level of support they want to receive
- Facilitate/support access to culturally appropriate and holistic intervention supports for the young person and their families to address
- Empower young people and their families to achieve change in the young person’s behaviour
