Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and making a positive impact in their lives? Launch Youth, a long stay shelter for male youth aged 13-20 who are experiencing homelessness and facing mental health challenges, is looking for a dedicated Youth Support Worker to join our team in a casual position.

Launch Youth is a vital service under Pathways Tasmania, a not-for-profit organisation providing support to individuals with developmental needs, those in addiction recovery, and homeless youth. Located in Southern Tasmania, Pathways Tasmania works to empower young people and provide them with the support they need to overcome life's challenges and thrive.

The Role:

As a Youth Support Worker at Launch Youth, you will provide direct support to young males aged 13-20, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development. You will assist in their daily living, offer emotional support, and help navigate complex situations related to mental health, homelessness, and personal growth. You will work as part of a team dedicated to creating a safe, stable environment where young people can begin to build a brighter future.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide day-to-day support to young residents, including personal care, social and emotional guidance.

· Assist with mental health and well-being management, helping to create strategies for young people to manage their challenges.

· Help build strong, trusting relationships with young people, encouraging independence and self-confidence.

· Work collaboratively with other team members, community services, and external agencies.

· Ensure that the shelter is a safe, supportive environment and respond appropriately to incidents or crises.

· Maintain accurate and confidential records, as required.

Essential Criteria:

· A genuine desire to support young people in challenging circumstances.

· Experience working with young people, particularly those facing mental health issues, homelessness, or other complex needs.

· Ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable young people.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· A current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check.

· Able to pass a National Police Clearance check.

· Hold a valid Tasmania driver’s licence.
